Policy on Publishing Articles, Comments, and Feedback

Middle Kingdom Life is not intended to function as an open anonymous public forum. We reserve the right to delete comments that we believe do not add anything of substance to the discussion and to copy edit all comments for clarity.  All published articles and comments become the property of Middle Kingdom Life.

If you are aware of some factual error contained in the Guide, please send us a correction with citations and references to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . If you would simply like to debate with the authors or file a complaint because something you’ve read has annoyed or angered you, you can do so privately by sending an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . If we feel your opinion has merit or adds something of educational value to the discussion, we will invite you to post it as a comment under the appropriate article.

We will not publish comments that advise readers to engage in illegal behaviors, e.g., arriving in China to work on an L-visa, that support individuals, organizations, causes, and publications we consider to be immoral, unethical, vindictive, educationally unsound, or otherwise not in the best interests of foreigners in China. Uninformative comments that are little more than advertisements for services, commercial websites, or personal blogs that we would not otherwise link to or recommend to our readers will not be published.

If you are a foreign teacher in China and feel you have something to add that would be of value to others, we warmly encourage you to write and submit a personal story. Our suggested guidelines can be found on the page “Share Your Story.”

Related, if you have lived and worked in a city for more than a year and would like to advise other foreigners about what it’s like to live and work in that city, we also encourage you to do so. When we publish your article, your photo and brief biography will be added to our list of Guide contributors and you will receive a personal middlekingdomlife.com e-mail address. Guidelines for writing a review of one’s city can be found on “Join The MKL Team.”
