Hi Dr. Greg,

I used the VisaRite Service recommended here and I successfully got my Z visa. All I have to do now is make it to China. One thing, I posted the VisaRite didn't list the letter of recommendation as a requirement. I sent it anyway to be safe. When I got my passport back, the package included a photocopies of my Work Permit and Visa Notification letter and my original Letter of Invitation. I am wondering if perhaps the new online Z visa screening system may have made the Letter unnecessary. It seems I did not need to send it after all. Do you think this may have been the case or is it normal to receive the Original Letter back?

Hi Danny,

The confusion here is being caused by a slight change in nomenclature. The Letter of Invitation is now being referred to as the "Official Invitation Notice" or Visa Notification: they are one and the same. The Chinese embassy or consulate needs to see the original document but does not retain it: It is returned to the applicant. If you check our sample Letter of Invitation and the sample "Visa Notification" provided by VisaRite on their website, you will see that they are identical.
