University Has Prematurely Processed Paperwork

Postby ClevelandTaylor » Mon Jul 12, 2010 8:29 pm

Hi Ken,

I am in the advanced stage of negotiations with a school in the Tianjin Municipality.

I have made it clear to them that I have further questions before I am willing to sign a contract, which I have NOT signed.

Recently I got an email from the school saying they had applied for the papers for me to get my visa and have sent me copies. It appears to be a work permit and invitation letter.

I am concerned that they have done this without me signing the contract, and am worried it may harm my chances of getting a visa in another province, as I am in negotiation with other employers too.

If I decide not to go to Tianjin will it come up that I've applied for a visa in 2 provinces?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You have no worries.

The first school just misunderstood. It's not unusual given the language barrier.

Proceed as you choose.

Thanks for your help.

Just to double check that the misunderstanding hasn't been on our side, is this the case even if the forms that the Tianjin school sent me have all been stamped by relevant authorities and are ready to be posted to me for me to take to the visa office here?

I'm certainly hoping this won't interfere with my chances of getting a visa in Jiangsu.

It doesn't matter what forms they sent you. Unless you sent them to the Chinese Embassy along with a visa application and received a visa, none of it matters.

This will have zero impact on your other job prospects.
