Teacher Attendance Requirement at Chinese Schools

Postby Aaron_H » Fri Mar 26, 2010 6:35 am

Hi.

I recently finished teaching a year in South Korea. There, even though I only had 3 classes a day, I was required to stay at the school for a full 8 hours with very little to do. Suffice to say, it drove me nuts.

I was wondering, do the schools in China have similar practices?

Thank you,

Aaron

Aaron,

I have heard that this is a peculiarity of South Korean schools: they expect their foreign teachers to be in attendance eight hours a day. While some private schools will try to impose "office hours," this is not customary in China. Generally speaking, you will only be required to be at the school when you have classes.

Best of luck,

Ken
