Have you any experience of the Shane schools? I have been offered a job in a new school in Kunming but they want me to come over on a turist visa so I am rather wary!

I have no personal knowledge of Shane schools. I know that they have been in business several years so there should be some posts available if you do a goggle search. Bear in mind that you need to read between the lines on any negative reviews. Satisfied teachers will almost never post a review of a school. So you need to separate the wheat from the chaff (those disgruntled for cause versus chronic complainers).

I would never recommend that you go to work on a tourist visa unless there is some clear and compelling evidence (from current or former FTs) that the school can provide an actual working visa and a reason why they don't issue you a z visa from the start.

Remember that while various franchisees carry the same name, they can be quite unlike. The only thing that matters is the conditions at the location you are interested in.
