We have been waiting for two months for our Letter of Invitation and other documentation needed to apply for the Z-visa.

We have booked flights for September 9th as we are due in Fujian on Sept 15th and are still waiting for these documents. We are told they will arrive "in time". Is this usual? We are now panicking.

Any advice please??

It is a little early to panic.

You might ask your school if they sent the documents by EMS, DHL or the like, and if so, ask for the tracking number.

However, I doubt they have even sent your documents at this point.

This is not at all uncommon among schools. Many are oblivious to the problems caused by poor communication, last minute changes, etc. They just think that is the normal way of doing business.

I'd suggest staying in weekly touch with them, letting them know your concern.

The school assures us the documents will be coming by courier when they receive them. I guess we need to get used to this way of doing everything last minute (we signed contracts in early May) and the possibility of changing our best laid plans.
